PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

At COMHESWA, we believe in creating an inclusive society where people with disabilities can achieve a high quality of life, fully participate in social and economic activities, and access opportunities that support their growth and empowerment. COMHESWA upholds the dignity of all individuals, with a particular focus on advocating for and supporting people with disabilities in meaningful ways.

Our programs offer essential assistance and foster independence by ensuring people with disabilities have access to critical resources. We advocate for their active involvement in society and encourage them to participate in economic activities. Additionally, we promote their voice in policy discussions and support decisions about the assistance they receive. Through referrals and linkages, we connect individuals to essential tools, economic opportunities, and health services, while encouraging family members to engage in income-generating activities that benefit everyone.

Among other issues COMHESWA considers include:

  • Support in education or employment – such as a classroom assistant for a child/youth with a disabEducational and Employment Assistance: Providing classroom support for students with disabilities and workplace support for employees, ensuring a conducive environment for learning and professional growth.
  • Communication Assistance: Offering sign language interpretation and other communication aids to facilitate engagement in professional and social environments.
  • Community Access: Creating pathways to accessible community centers, including day care and recreational facilities.
  • Information and Advisory Services: Providing professional advice, peer support, advocacy services, and resources for supported decision-making, helping individuals and families make informed choices.

COMHESWA is committed to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by building a more inclusive community that respects their contributions, promotes their rights, and creates opportunities for them to thrive.
